About Us

My name is Joan Wilson, I live with my husband Michael and son Connor, we also have a cat called Sammy.

I went to college in 1994 to do my GSVQ in Social Care 3 folowed by my HNC in Social Care. I went on to obtain several posts within the Social Care sector, mainly working with adults with learning difficulties, within residential settings.  I went on to become a Senior Social Care worker.  I decided to become a childminder after having my son Connor which allowed me to spend more time with my son, and also meant I could continue to work within the Social Care sector.

My husband Michael also works within the Social Care sector with experience of working with youths.

I only use the ground floor of my premises for the childminding services, with access to the back garden via the patio doors in my living room.  I have a downstairs toilet which the children use.

There are a range of activities, toys and equipment for the children to choose from.  Activities include arts and crafts, painting, baking, gardening, use of a computer, toys for different age groups and outdoor equipment.  The range of activities on offer allows flexibility in what the child can choose to do taking into account their age, stage of development and needs.  This is done by drawing up an activity chart in which the children, at the start of each month, discuss and decide on what to do. The hours and patterns of the childs' attendance is also taken into account with activities.

Children are given the opportunity to play independently or as part of a small or large group.

All children have the opportunity to enjoy organised activities, enjoy free play and enjoy quiet times.
